Journal tools · export, backup & privacy
Keep a copy. Keep your thoughts.
A downloadable backup lets you restore your journal on another device.
Backups contain your private notes. Store yours somewhere safe. The text export is for reading; the JSON backup is for restoring.
Entries stay in this browser on this device. They are not sent to us. Export a copy before clearing browser data or switching devices. Anyone using this browser may see them.
Home Screen setup
iPhone · Safari
- Open Gather in Safari.
- Tap Share (it may be inside the More menu).
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add. You may also see an “Open as Web App” option.
Android · Chrome
- Open Gather in Chrome.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Choose Add to Home screen and follow the prompts.
Download a backup before adding Gather, then open it from the new icon and check your notes. If they do not appear, use Restore backup. Use the same icon consistently and keep occasional backups.
A Home Screen icon is a shortcut, not a backup. It does not add cloud syncing or offline support. Clearing browser or app data can erase locally saved notes.
